How to play Maths Meteors

  1. Pick a topic (mixed, add and subtract, times tables, division or squares) and a level, then press Start.
  2. Read the sum on a meteor and type its answer. The laser fires on its own when only one meteor can match.
  3. If two answers start with the same digits (like 1 and 12) press Enter to fire.
  4. Every meteor that lands costs a life. You have three. Every 6 blasts the next wave is faster and the sums get harder.
  5. Keep a streak going: every 4 correct answers in a row raises your score multiplier.

Tips and strategy

  • Look at the lowest meteors first. They are the ones about to land.
  • Learn the times tables you are slow on. The Times Table Race game is built for that.
  • Do not guess. A wrong answer breaks your combo and the multiplier is where the big scores come from.
  • Practise the Easy level until answers feel instant, then move up.

FAQ

Maths Meteors: questions

What ages is Maths Meteors for?

It suits roughly ages 6 and up. The Easy level uses small numbers and the 2 to 10 times tables, and Expert goes up to 1000, squares and percentages.

Which maths skills does it practise?

Mental addition, subtraction, multiplication tables, division facts, square numbers and (at the top level) percentages, all under a gentle time pressure.

Do I need to press Enter?

Usually not. The game fires automatically when your typed number matches exactly one meteor. Press Enter only when two answers begin with the same digits.

Is it free and does it save my score?

It is free with no sign-up. Your best score and XP are saved in your own browser only.

Can I play on a phone or tablet?

Yes. A number keypad appears when you tap the answer box. It plays best in landscape on a phone.
