  2. Collect every star.
  3. Match the par (the fewest moves possible) for three stars.

Tips and strategy

  • Count before you move: which star can you reach in one move?
  • A bishop never changes colour.
  • The knight jumps over pieces. The squares next to it are the hardest for it to reach.

FAQ

Chess Star Hunt: questions

What is the best way to teach a child chess?

One piece at a time. Let them move a single piece around the board until its move feels natural, then add the next piece. This game does exactly that.

At what age can kids learn chess?

Many children learn the moves from about 5 or 6. This game suits ages 5 and up.

How does the knight move in chess?

In an L shape: two squares in one direction and then one square to the side. It is the only piece that jumps over others.

Is this chess game free?

Yes, free in your browser with no sign-up.
