FAQ
Knight's Tour: questions
How does a knight move in chess?
Two squares in one direction, then one square to the side: an L. It jumps over pieces in between.
Is a knight's tour possible on every board?
Not on every board. On 5 × 5 and larger squares there is always a tour; on 3 × 3 and 4 × 4 there is none.
What is the trick to the knight's tour?
Warnsdorff's rule: always move to the square with the fewest onward moves.
