Ice breaker: all about me
5 minTeacher tip
Say your own name, grade and hobby first, then ask the child and type the answers: the badge fills in as you type. Spin two or three questions; there are no wrong answers.

Warm-up: quick-fire numbers
5 minTeacher tip
Keep it fast and smiley. If a card is hard, show the answer and move on: the warm-up wakes the brain, it does not test it.

Count to 20 together, out loud. The numbers light up one by one.

Riddle time
4 minTeacher tip
Read the riddle slowly, give thinking time (count to 5 in your head), then let the child answer before tapping.
Learn: number bonds to 10
10 minTeacher tip
Use real objects if the child has them (10 toys or pasta). Say each bond as a sentence: "7 and 3 make 10". Level 3 is a stretch: skip it if time is short.
1 ยท The idea
10 can be split into two parts. The two parts always add up to 10.
Tap the circles to make them red or blue.
6 + 4 = 10
2 ยท See the pattern
One part goes up, the other goes down.
- 0 + 10 = 10
- 1 + 9 = 10
- 2 + 8 = 10
- 3 + 7 = 10
- 4 + 6 = 10
- 5 + 5 = 10
- 6 + 4 = 10
- 7 + 3 = 10
- 8 + 2 = 10
- 9 + 1 = 10
- 10 + 0 = 10
3 ยท Practise
โญ Find the missing part
7 + ? = 10
? + 4 = 10
9 + ? = 10
? + 5 = 10
โญโญ Part, part, whole
10 = 2 + ?
10 = ? + 3
10 = 0 + ?
10 = 6 + ?
โญโญโญ Story problems
I have 10 sweets ๐ฌ. I eat 6. How many are left?
There are 10 ducks ๐ฆ. 7 are in the pond. How many are on the grass?
8 children are on the bus ๐. How many more make 10?
Game: Bond Balloons
9 minTeacher tip
Let the child play once alone, then play again together and beat the first score. Say the bond out loud each time a pair pops.
Pop two balloons that make 10: tap one, then its partner. The first tap starts the clock.
Quiz: 8 questions
7 minTeacher tip
Let the child read or listen and tap. One try per question; talk through any wrong answer with the ten frame.
Wrap-up
5 minWhat did we learn?
Two numbers that make 10 are number bonds to 10: 7 and 3, 6 and 4, 5 and 5โฆ
How did today feel?
๐ Homework (10 minutes)
- Find 10 small things at home (pasta, buttons, toys). Split them into two groups as many ways as you can and say each bond: 7 and 3 make 10.
- Play 'Make 10' with a grown-up: they say a number, you say the number that makes 10. Swap and repeat.
- Draw 10 stars in two colours. Write the number bond under your picture, like 6 + 4 = 10.
