Class 10 maths: a calm plan for the board exam

Class 10 is about clarity, practice and steady revision rather than last-minute panic. Cover each topic, practise exam-style questions, review mistakes, and arrive at the exam with a plan you trust.

The year ahead

What children learn in Class 10 maths

Real numbers and polynomials

Euclid's division lemma, HCF and LCM by prime factorisation, zeroes of polynomials.

Linear and quadratic equations

Pairs of linear equations in two variables and solving quadratics by factorising and the formula.

Arithmetic progressions

The nth term and the sum of n terms.

Triangles and circles

Similarity of triangles and tangents to a circle.

Coordinate geometry

Distance formula, section formula and area of a triangle.

Trigonometry

Ratios, identities, and heights and distances problems.

Mensuration

Areas related to circles, and surface areas and volumes of combined solids.

Statistics and probability

Mean, median and mode of grouped data, and basic probability.

CBSE, ICSE and state boards teach very similar ideas but in a different order and depth, and textbooks are revised from time to time. Tell us your board, your textbook and the topic your child is on, and we will start there instead of guessing.

Common trouble spots

Where Class 10 children usually get stuck

  • Quadratics. Pick the method: factorise when it's easy, otherwise use the formula. Always check the roots.
  • Trigonometric identities. Convert everything to sin and cos, then simplify. Learn the identities by deriving them from the Pythagorean theorem.
  • Heights and distances. Draw a clear figure first, label the angle and choose tan, sin or cos from what's given.
  • Time management in the exam. Practise full papers in the exam time and review mistakes by type (concept, calculation, reading the question).

A four-week plan for home

Twenty to thirty minutes on most days is enough. Change the order if your child is already ahead on a topic.

  1. 01
    Week 1: Algebra

Quadratics, AP and linear equations: 6 questions a day, with the check step.

  2. 02
    Week 2: Trigonometry

Ratios, identities and 2 heights-and-distances problems a day with a drawn figure.

  3. 03
    Week 3: Geometry and mensuration

Triangles, circles, coordinate geometry and combined solids.

  4. 04
    Week 4: Full-paper practice

One full sample paper under exam conditions, then a mistake log by type.

Working with us

How online maths classes work

  1. Tell us about your child. Share the class, board, textbook or topic, what feels hard and how much time is available. A parent or guardian makes the enquiry.
  2. We confirm the fit. We suggest a starting point and confirm the format, time and availability before anything is booked. If an introductory lesson or assessment has a fee, we say so up front.
  3. Learn, practise and review. Interactive lessons with the child writing and talking, practice between sessions and a short update for parents. We do not promise marks or ranks.

FAQ

Class 10 maths: questions parents ask

CBSE Class 10 has Maths Standard and Maths Basic. Which should we choose?

Standard is for students who may study maths further (for example in Class 11 science or commerce with maths); Basic is a lighter paper. Check your school's advice and CBSE's current rules before deciding, because eligibility and policies can change.

How early should Class 10 board preparation start?

Start at the beginning of the year with steady practice, and keep the last two months for full papers and mistake review. Panic revision rarely works for maths.

Do you provide sample papers?

We use official sample papers and previous papers from your board, because these show the current style of questions. Ask your school or the board's website for the latest ones.

Can you help ICSE and state board Class 10 students?

Yes. Share your board, textbook and exam date, and we plan the weeks that remain.
