What children learn in Class 7 maths
Rational numbers and operations
Integers, fractions and decimals together, with the sign rules.
Simple equations
Solving one-variable equations step by step and forming equations from word problems.
Exponents and powers
Laws like aยฒ ร aยณ = aโต and standard form for very large and small numbers.
Percentages and applications
Profit and loss, discount and simple interest.
Lines, angles and triangles
Angle sum, exterior angles, congruence of triangles and an introduction to the Pythagorean theorem.
Perimeter, area, data
Area of parallelograms, triangles and circles, and mean, median, mode and probability.
CBSE, ICSE and state boards teach very similar ideas but in a different order and depth, and textbooks are revised from time to time. Tell us your board, your textbook and the topic your child is on, and we will start there instead of guessing.
Common trouble spots
Where Class 7 children usually get stuck
- Doing the same thing to both sides. Balance scales make this visible. Our Equation Balance game shows it step by step.
- Exponent laws. Write the long form first (a ร a ร a) and see why the powers add.
- Percentage of what?. Always ask: percent of which amount? Profit % is on the cost price.
- Congruence criteria. SSS, SAS, ASA and RHS look alike. Build triangles with straws or a ruler to feel why each works.

A four-week plan for home
Twenty to thirty minutes on most days is enough. Change the order if your child is already ahead on a topic.
- 01Week 1: Equations
Five equations a day, each with the check step (put the answer back in).
- 02Week 2: Exponent laws
Expand, simplify, compare. Then move to standard form.
- 03Week 3: Percentages
Shopping examples: discount, GST and profit with the percentage calculator as a check.
- 04Week 4: Triangles
Draw triangles and test the congruence criteria, then use the Pythagoras calculator to check sides.
Exams do not move

Percentage calculator
Find X% of a number, what percent one number is of another, percentage change, add or take off a percentage, and reverse percentages.
Use the tool โPythagoras theorem calculator
Find the missing side of a right-angled triangle from any two sides, with the area, perimeter and both acute angles.
Use the tool โRatio calculator
Simplify ratios, share an amount in a ratio, or solve a : b = c : x. Handy for recipes, profit sharing, maps and scaling.
Use the tool โScientific calculator
A free online scientific calculator with brackets, powers, roots, logs, trigonometry in degrees or radians, factorials and a history.
Use the tool โMean, median & mode calculator
Mean, median, mode, range, quartiles and standard deviation for any list of numbers, such as marks, prices, runs or temperatures.

How online maths classes work
- Tell us about your child. Share the class, board, textbook or topic, what feels hard and how much time is available. A parent or guardian makes the enquiry.
- We confirm the fit. We suggest a starting point and confirm the format, time and availability before anything is booked. If an introductory lesson or assessment has a fee, we say so up front.
- Learn, practise and review. Interactive lessons with the child writing and talking, practice between sessions and a short update for parents. We do not promise marks or ranks.

FAQ
Class 7 maths: questions parents ask
My child understands in class but fails tests in Class 7. What's wrong?
Usually it is practice and steps, not understanding. Work questions on paper without looking at the solution, then review each mistake. Our exam guide has a simple revision routine.
How do I make algebra less scary?
Start from puzzles ("I think of a number, double it and add 3, I get 11") and the balance picture. The symbols come after the idea.
Will Class 7 marks matter later?
The marks matter less than the habits and the ideas: equations, exponents and geometry are the base for Classes 8 to 10.
Do you teach ICSE and state board syllabuses?
Share your board and textbook. The big ideas are the same, and we follow the order your school uses.
